Political officers’ group now registered with SEC

CEBU, Philippines — The Political Officers League of the Philippines Inc. (PolPhil) has secured its registration with the Securities and Exchange Commission last August 8, marking its first official step to professionalize political officers in the country.

This is in line with their aim to help change the political system, especially in eliminating or at least minimizing vote buying during elections.

Led by Tuburan, Cebu, Vice Mayor Democrito “Aljun” Diamante, PolPhil held its first formal board meeting last Saturday in Cebu City and discussed their plans to call for a national assembly.

Diamante announced that the first National PolPhil Conference to be held in Manila this coming October.

“When we began PolPhil, we thought of how political officers could be big contributors to nation building by becoming highly professional and ethical in their pursuits. We thought of how the Philippines could become a better place to live in through plans and programs that would address local community issues by local experts but with a national and global flair and consciousness,” Diamante said during the meeting.

“Today marks another milestone in this vision to finally end the ills that continue to beset our basic sectors on the ground. Today during the board meeting of PolPhil grander plans and executions are envisioned to create centers of participation by experts from the ranks of political officers. So as we end this August, we feel that PolPhil must now take its place in the roster of creating heroes among ordinary citizens,” he added.

Diamante said that come October, they will mobilize political officers, basic sectors like farmers, fishers, solo parents, and youths to come together to work out solutions to end the woes that face the country. (FREEMAN)
