Radaza office littered with cat poop

Mitchelle L. Palaubsanon - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — Lapu-Lapu City Mayor "Junard" Chan could not contain his amusement yesterday when asked by the members of the press to comment on reports that the table and table cloth used at the district office of Rep. Paz Radaza had been littered with “cat poop.”

“Ang iring di na nato pwede madiktahan oy asa siya malibang kay wala nay buot ang iring (We cannot dictate where a cat relieves itself),” a visibly entertained Chan told reporters.

The staff of Radaza were shocked to find out upon reporting for work yesterday that cat poops were on top of the tables, under the chairs and in other places. The table cloth was also used to wipe the poop.

To note, Chan has ordered Radaza thrice already to vacate the district office inside City Hall.

Radaza's office was already padlocked last week, which forced her staff to work outside the office.

Radaza, on the other hand, has refused to give up the office space contending that the city ordinance creating such office has not been repelled yet.

Radaza has said that if Chan wanted her to pay a rent for the office space, then she will.

“Wa ko nagkinahanglan og abang. Ang akoa lang gyud nagkinahanglan ko og lugar kay kuwang kaayo ang atong opisina sa City Hall (I don’t need rent. What I need is space, because we need more space for our office here at City Hall),” said Chan.

“Hangyo lang ko niya nga iyang respetohon ang gimando sa DILG nga dili siya pwede mag-hold og office sa City Hall (All I ask of her is to respect the order of the DILG that she could not hold office here),” the mayor said, adding that the congresswoman can just hold office in Barangay Basak.

Radaza had said that aside from maintaining her central district office at City Hall, she plans to put up two temporary satellite offices in Basak, which is still under negotiation, and in Barangay Pusok.

Radaza said that the services given by her office to the Lapu-Lapu City residents are among the reasons why her district office needs to stay at City Hall.

She said that she just wants to bring public service closer to the people and the City Hall is among those venues.

Chan, meanwhile, said that in two weeks’ time, all City Hall employees will be given their own identification cards and non-employees or those who do not have office or have no business at the City Hall could no longer enter. — JMD (FREEMAN)
