Tumulak: Intensify anti-dengue drive
CEBU, Philippines — Cebu City Councilor David Tumulak has urged the City Health Department and the Barangay Health Workers to intensify the information campaign against dengue and other waterborne diseases.
Tumulak said he will sponsor a resolution next week to formally ask the concerned agencies following reports that the city is among the areas in Central Visayas where dengue cases are high.
He said that barangay health centers must prepare to visit all sitios. The City Health Department must also prepare the needed medicines while the Cebu City Medical Center should be ready with re-agents and other possible medicines to be needed.
Tumulak likewise encouraged all private and public schools to ensure cleanliness in the surroundings to avoid dengue-carrying mosquitoes.
"Apil ang mga ginikanan muabag sila sa mga eskwelahan pagpanglimpyo to avoid dengue" Tumulak said.
Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella said he would require city health officers to make a weekly monitoring report of all the barangays.
Central Visayas is one of the regions in the country that exceeded the epidemic thresholds. It has recorded almost 9,199 cases from January to June 2019. — Jebert A. Sarsonas, CNU Intern/FPL (FREEMAN)
