CEBU, Philippines —  Two persons died in separate stabbing and shooting incidents in Mandaue City in a span of 24 hours.

The stabbing incident happened along P. Remedio Street, Banilad, Mandaue City around 10 p.m. last Friday.

The police identified the victim as Dale Abayon, 27, a resident of Barangay Banilad.  The suspect reportedly was a certain Larry Suplag, 34, also a resident of the same village.

Initial police investigation revealed that Abayon was sleeping in his tricycle when the suspect, armed with a knife, stabbed the victim in the neck.

After stabbing the victim, Suplag reportedly showed up in the police station to surrender to the authorities and owned up to the killing.

The police are still checking as to the motive of the killing.

Shot Dead

Meanwhile, a man was shot dead at G. Ouano Street, Barangay Opao, Mandaue City around 3:30 a.m. last Saturday.

The victim was identified as Alexander “Al” Sungahid, a resident of Purok Orchids, Barangay Opao.

The suspects were reportedly wearing bonnets.

In the initial investigation, the victim was sitting beside a noodles store when the suspects arrived and shot the victim several times.

The authorities are still investigating the incident and they are also checking on the background of the victim. — GAN (FREEMAN)
