Mabolo cops waiting for CCPO’s directives

CEBU, Philippines — Four days after the killing of Police Captain Delfin Bontuyan, the police are still waiting for any directive from their superiors if there would be a need to form a Special Investigation Task Group to help solve the case.

Mabolo Police Station Chief Dindo Juanito Alaras told The FREEMAN that they have not yet received any directive from Cebu City Police Office (CCPO).

“Wala pa mi nadawat nga directive na angay na ni buhaton og SITG, apan padayon atong paglihok aron masulbad ni ang kaso,” Alaras said.

To recall, Bontuyan was shot dead at the North Reclamation Area by unknown assailants who were on board two motorcycles.

Bontuyan was a former member of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-7, and was reassigned in Jolo, Sulu over his alleged involvement to illegal drugs.

Alaras assured, however, that they are doing their best to investigate the case.

Police Master Sergeant Antonio Din, who is investigating the case, told The FREEMAN as well that they have submitted to the PNP Crime Laboratory the SD cards of the dash cameras from both taxis that were in the crime scene, empty shells of .45 caliber firearm, and Bontuyan’s cellphone.

“After nato makuha ang results, diha pa ta makakuha sa progress gyud ani nga case. Sa pagkakaron padayon ang pagpa-check nato sa mga duol na establishments para sa CCTV,” Din said.

Din added that the assailants are professional killers because even though Bontuyan is “well-trained” in gun-slinging, he was still killed.

He also answered netizens’ accusation that the Mabolo police failed to respond immediately to the crime scene, even if the shooting incident happened just a few meters from their station.

He said that they immediately went to the crime scene and that there were even teams who ran after the motorcycles of the assailants but failed to capture the killers.

He said the assailants went separate ways as a trick – one went straight ahead to Pope John Paul Avenue and the other went to the direction of Mandaue City. — GAN (FREEMAN)
