Pregnant woman shot dead while sleeping with 2 kids
CEBU, Philippines — A 31-year-old mother, who is two months pregnant, was shot dead while sleeping with her two kids in Barangay Lawaan III, Talisay City at past 2 a.m. yesterday.
The victim is identified as Lindy Braga.
At around 4 a.m. yesterday, the police station received a call from barangay councilman Eric Rabadon about the incident.
When they arrived in the area, personnel of the Talisay Rescue Emergency Assistance Team were already there and declared that Braga was already dead.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Marlu Conag, chief of Talisay City Police Station, revealed that based on their initial investigation, while the victim was sleeping with her children, an unidentified man barged into their house and shot her in the head.
Her 3-year-old kid asked for help from the neighbor, Liezelda Valiente, who also reported the matter to their purok leader.
Recovered from the crime scene were an empty shell and a magazine loaded with 12 bullets.
The police have yet to conduct further investigation to establish the motive of the killing.
Residents of the place revealed that the victim was jailed before for a drug case.
