Teachers’ poll honoraria set for distribution tomorrow

CEBU, Philippines — The honoraria for Election Board (EB) members will be released tomorrow at their respective election officers’ offices, according to a Commission on Elections (Comelec)-Cebu official.

Lawyer Jerome Brillantes, Cebu provincial acting election supervisor, said the honoraria of over 11,000 EB members in the province are already available for release.

The board is composed of chairperson, poll clerk and third member.

Brillantes said the chairperson will receive P6,000, while the poll clerk  and the third member will get P5,000 and P4,000, respectively.

The amount though will still be subjected to a five-percent withholding tax, he said.

“So the board will not receive the exact amount,” he said.

He said each EB member will also get P1,000 in transportation allowance.

Aside from the honoraria and transportation allowance, the EBs earlier received training allowance amounting to P2,000.

Last Monday, the EM members served at the polling precincts (classrooms and jail facilities) and facilitated the electoral procedures. — KBQ (FREEMAN)
