168 applicants hired in Capitol job fair
CEBU, Philippines — At least 168 individuals were able to get a job instantly during the local job fair conducted by the Cebu Provincial Government on May 1, Labor Day.
These individuals were hired-on-the-spot (HOTS) during the activity held at the Capitol, 53 of them are male and 115 were female.
Cebu Provincial Labor and Employment Officer Julius Chua said that aside from those who were hired on the spot, there were 466 qualified applicants that have to undergo final interview and approval of the employer.
Chua added there were 983 registered applicants during the Labor Day job fair and 41 companies participated.
At least 5,021 job vacancies were available in the manufacturing, wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and personal and household goods industry.
Other open positions offered were from information and communication industry, human health and social work activities, financial and insurance activities, construction, accommodation and food services and transportation and storage.
Aside from the local job fair, a “one-stop-shop” at the Capitol was also set up where government agencies such as SSS, PhilHealth, NBI and the Prosecutor's Office offered services. — MBG (FREEMAN)
