Drug ‘peddler’ killed in shootout
CEBU, Philippines — A suspected drug peddler was killed during a police operation in Sitio Kimba, Barangay San Roque, Talisay City Tuesday evening.
The fatality was identified as John Paul Caidic, a resident of the said village.
Caidic allegedly shot it out with the members of the Regional Mobile Force Batallion (RMFB-7) in a buy-bust operation.
During the operation, the suspect sensed he was transacting with a police poseur-buyer and tried to escape.
He reportedly pulled out a gun and fired at the operatives.
The RMFB-7 team led by Police Lieutenant Jan Ace Layug was forced to retaliate, hitting the suspect.
Caidic suffered gunshot wounds to the different parts of his body, resulting in his instantaneous death.
Police recovered a .38 revolver with one empty shell and two live rounds of ammunition, and 23 small sachets of illegal drugs from Caidic. (FREEMAN)
