CEBU, Philippines — Cebu City Councilor Renato Osmeña Jr. is the richest councilor with a total net worth of P41.3 million in 2018 or P2 million more than his worth in 2017.

Some of his assets include P12.5 million jewelry and other personal belongings, P5 million share at Portline Transport Services, P4.7 million Land Cruiser vehicle, P3.5 million cash, P3 million Jeep Wrangler vehicle, P3 million JB Armor Wholesale Corp. share of stocks, P2 million residential house and P2 million residential lot in Barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City.

Renato was appointed councilor by President Rodrigo Duterte after councilor Nendell Hanz Abella resigned from his post in December 2017.

Six legislators including Renato have increased total net worth based on the Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN) for 2018 that they have submitted.

Eugenio Gabuya Jr.’s net worth has increased from P5.1 million plus $4,000.60 dollar account to P6.8 million plus $ 8,000.

Alvin  Arcilla’s net worth has increased from P5.3 million to P5.5 million while Jocelyn Pesquera’s net worth now is P5.3 million from P4.9 million in 2017.

Eduardo Rama is now worth P1.7 million from P1.1 and Raymond Alvin Garcia’s net worth has increased from P1.3 million to P1.4 million.

There are three councilors whose net worth had decreased. Pastor Alcover Jr.’s net worth has decreased from P5.9 million to P5.02 million while Joey Daluz’s has gone down to P2 million from P3.4.

Joel Garganera is now worth P671,000 from P830,000 in 2017. The declared net worth of Jerry Guardo is P5 million which is the same amount that he declared in 2017 while Jessica Resch, who is the newest member of the City Council after being elected as the Sangguniang Kabataan Federation president, has a declared a net worth of P433,990 with zero liabilities.

The FREEMAN has yet to get a copy of SALNs of councilors David Tumulak, Joy Augustus Young, Margarita Osmeña, Sisino Andales, Mary Ann delos Santos, James Anthony Cuenco and ex-officio member Franklyn Ong.

Under Article XI Section 17 of the 1987 Constitution and Section 8 of Republic Act No. 6713 or Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees, public officials and government employees are required to submit SALN.

“A public officer or employee shall, upon assumption of office and as often thereafter as may be required by law, submit a declaration under oath of his assets, liabilities, and net worth,” Article XI Section 17 of 1987 Constitution read. (FREEMAN)
