CEBU, Philippines — Capitol employees will start their Lenten break on Holy Wednesday afternoon onwards, the provincial government announced yesterday.

The provincial government declared a half-day work schedule today to give workers enough time to prepare for the Holy Week break.

Governor Hilario Davide III, in a memorandum, said the Capitol has readied its skeletal force for continued service during the Lenten break on Holy Thursday and Good Friday.

“All department / unit heads are required to maintain skeletal force to attend to the transacting public,” read the memo dated April 15.

The governor also directed the administrative officers to forward the official list of personnel who are part of the skeletal workforce to the Human Resource Management Office. The list should be signed by the department/office heads.

The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office and Provincial Health Office are part of the skeletal workforce, said Provincial Information Officer Ainjeliz de la Torre –Orong.

“Employees whose functions involve disaster and medical response, etc. will be on standby” Orong said.

Aside from the skeletal force, some Capitol employees will also be deployed to the Cebu South Bus Terminal (CSBT) to help the management in assisting the passengers traveling to their respective towns and provinces.

Regular operations at the Capitol will resume on Monday, April 22.  — KBQ (FREEMAN)
