Dad urges Sinas, Repollo to talk

CEBU, Philippines — Cebu City Councilor David Tumulak is urging Inayawan Barangay Captain Kirk Bryan Repollo and Police Regional Office-7 Director Debold Sinas to talk to each other and settle their differences.

Tumulak told reporters it is unpleasant to hear the exchange of words of the two public servants.

He said he is willing to invite the two for a talk to resolve the issue over the alleged refusal of Repollo on the construction of the Pardo Police Station satellite office in Inayawan.

He said the conflict of Repollo and Sinas will be settled as long as they are open to hear each other’s side with respect.

“Ang nahitabo man gud karon puros sila public servants, si Kapitan Kirk and RD Sinas, lain kaayo tan-awn sa public, nag-unay ang atoang public servants. Ang gikinahanglan nato magkahiusa lang unta kay anyway si Kapitan Kirk Repollo, duna may gi-propose nga yuta para didto,” he said.

The spat between the two officials began last Monday when Sinas wondered why Repollo allegedly does not want a police station constructed in his barangay.

Tumulak said Repollo has a valid concern why the original lot is not suitable for the construction of satellite office since it is within a road right of way.

“Valid sad ang rason ni Repollo gumikan kay wala man gyud ma-legally documented sa previous administration ang pag occupy ana nga luna,”he said.

In 2018, the construction of the satellite office did not push through after Repollo had proposed for an alternative area following complaints from the residents.

But the police hierarchy reportedly was not amenable of the new area saying it is “onerous.”

Earlier, Repollo threatened to file a case against Sinas for defaming him publicly.

Sinas had said he will inform President Rodrigo Duterte and to Secretary of Interior and Local Government Eduardo Año that Repollo is a “detractor in the war against drugs.”

Sinas added he is also going to file a case against Repollo following the demolition of the fence around the construction site last Tuesday.

Cebu City Police Office Director Royina Garma, for her part, asked Repollo to spare the policemen from politics.

She said there is a deed of donation of the original lot and to start again from scratch will take time.

She said that the process to break ground even took two years.

Garma said that building a police station will result to added police presence to deter crimes especially in illegal drugs.

“Nililipat kasi ang drugs.  So, after sa intensive operation siguro sa Talisay City, since it is a boundary of Inayawan and Tangke, nagiging easy ang pag-cross ng drugs,” she said.

She belied Repollo’s allegations that there is a failure in intelligence, as Repollo attributed it to the drug problem.

She said if there had been a failure, they would have not netted P122.4 million worth of drugs last Sunday.

Police Major Regino Maramag Jr., the chief of Pardo police station echoed Garma’s denial.

Elymar Ancajas, who yielded the biggest bulk of drugs in Barangay Inayawan, was the one who disclosed information about Jocelyn Encila, who was arrested in Consolacion, Cebu hours after.

Encila was considered as the biggest drug distributor in Cebu.  She reportedly gets orders from Rustico Ygot of the Ygot drug group. Ygot is a convicted drug personality and is detained at the National Bilibid Prison.

Garma said they will also be looking into reports Ygot had also entered into a legitimate business, an audio-renting business based in Inayawan. These audio equipment are reportedly used by Barangay Inayawan for free.

“May na-receive kami na reports nun nag operation kami, na ang business ni Ygot na sound system ay ginagamit pala.  But we do not know yet kung sinong opisyal o kailan – basta sa barangay.  Sinasabi nila they do not receive from drug lords, dati ka Jaguar.  Eh, ang pag-receive in kind naman pareha lang yun,” Garma said.  — GAN (FREEMAN)
