Alcantara woman sued for qualified trafficking

Mylen P. Manto - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu Provincial Prosecutors Office has recommended no bail against the woman who was arrested for allegedly sexually exploiting her children online.

State Prosecutor Ryan Gingoyon indicted her for qualified trafficking after finding probable cause.

During inquest proceedings, the accused chose to answer the accusation filed against her before the court. After evaluating the evidence, Gingoyon recommended the filing of case which was approved by the provincial prosecutor.

The case was filed before the Regional Trial Court in Barili town.

The accused was arrested in Alcantara town last February 4 after she allegedly sent photos and videos of the private parts of her children to her clients abroad.

In coordination with the Anti-Cybercrime Group Region-7, the police implemented the search warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Judge Ramon Daomilas of Branch 11.

The other children of the accused, including a three-week-old baby, are now under the custody of the Department of Social Welfare and Development after being rescued by the members of the Women and Children Protection Center-Visayas Field Unit.

Senior Superintendent Romeo Perigo, chief of the Women and Children Protection Desk earlier said that they started monitoring the accused since November last year.

They were allegedly able to recover money transfer receipts showing previous transactions with foreigners. — BRP, (FREEMAN)
