Motorists asked to follow rerouting scheme on Sunday

CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO) has released its traffic advisory for the Sinulog Grand Parade this coming Sunday.

The rerouting along the carousel route will start at 5 a.m. until the event is done which is from the New Imus Road to Gen. Maxilom Avenue to Fuente Osmeña Circle, Osmeña Boulevard.

The grand parade will end at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC) for the contingents’ ritual presentation.

Among the public utility jeepneys (PUJs) that will be rerouted include those with route numbers 13B and 13C.  These PUJs shall proceed to Gov. Cuenco Avenue, then to Archbishop Reyes Avenue, turn left to Mindanao Avenue, to Samar Loop, left turn to Cardinal Rosales Avenue, right turn to Gorordo Avenue, right turn Archbishop Reyes Avenue, to Gov. Cuenco Avenue then to their usual route and vice versa.

PUJs from barangay Pit-os which has route numbers of 62B and 62C shall follow to Gov. Cuenco Avenue, turn left to Juan Luna Avenue, right turn to Cardinal Rosales Avenue, left turn Samar Loop, proceed to Luzon Avenue, right turn to Archbishop Reyes Avenue, to Ayala Terminal, proceed to Gov. Cuenco Avenue, to their usual route, then to their point of origin.

Those PUJs with route numbers  03A, 03B, 03G and 03L will traverse Juan Luna Avenue, turn right to J. de Veyra St., proceed to B. Benedicto St., left turn to T. Padilla St., right turn to Serging Osmeña Avenue, right turn to Palma St., right turn to M.J. Cuenco Avenue, right turn to V. Sotto St., left turn to Serging Osmeña Avenue, left turn to T. Padilla St., right turn to B. Benedicto St., to J. de Veyra St., left turn to Juan Luna Avenue, to their usual route, except for 03L to turn left to J. Limbong St., right turn to L. Tudtud St., and vice versa.

Jeepneys from barangays Lahug and Apas with route numbers 04C, 04L and 17C will traverse Gorordo Avenue, turn left to N. Escario St., right turn to Acacia St., right turn Archbishop Reyes Avenue, right turn to Gorordo Avenue, to their usual route, then to their point of origin.

For those with route numbers 04B, 04D, 04H, 17B and 17D will traverse Escario St., turn left to Osmeña Blvd., U-turn to Ma. Cristina St., then to Osmeña Boulevard to their usual route and vice versa.

Route numbers 09E, 09K, 10E, 10F, and 11G while traversing N. Bacalso Ave. shall turn left to F. Llamas St., right turn to Katipunan St., right turn to Salvador Extn., left turn to Tres de Abril St., right turn to N. Bacalso Avenue, to their usual route, then back to their origin.

PUJs with route numbers 09C, 09F, 10C, 10D, 10O, 11D and PUJ’s bound for North Reclamation Area (NRA) while traversing N. Bacalso St. shall turn right to V. Rama Extension, right turn to Tres de Abril St., left turn to N. Bacalso Avenue, to their usual route, then back to where they came from.

Jeepneys with number 02B from the Pier Area shall follow to Sanciangko St., left turn to Panganiban St., left turn to Colon St., to their usual route, then to their point of destination.

There will be a total road closure before the grand parade starts at 5 a.m.

 They will tow and clamp vehicles which will be caught obstructing the grand parade on Sunday.

The designated parking area for vehicles is at the vacant lot near the St. Pedro Calungsod templete in the South Road Properties (SRP).

“Motorist, drivers and other road users are advised to follow the traffic signs installed on the re-routing areas to minimize traffic congestion,” portion of CCTO’s advisory reads. — MBG (FREEMAN)
