Cops to invite Sabalones to shed light on killings
CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) will invite self-confessed drug lord Franz Sabalones, if reports about his sightings in San Fernando, Cebu are true.
“We are receiving reports na may mga instances, ng may presence po ang subject person (Franz Sabalones). But then we have to validate itong report na tinatanggap namin,” CPPO Director Manuel Abrugena said.
Abrugena, however, clarified that there is no pending warrant of arrest issued against Sabalones.
The police will just invite Sabalones in order to shed light on the recent incidents where two individuals that were killed are allegedly linked to him.
Inmate Tocillo Ababon, who was on his way to a local court for a hearing, was shot in an ambush inside a police car in Argao last January 9.
The following day, San Fernando Councilor Reneboy Dacalos was also shot by at least four motorcycle-riding assailants inside his brother-in-law's sari-sari store.
Police Regional Office-7 Director Debold Sinas said that it is possible that the Sabalones’ underlings are regrouping.
Reports have surfaced before that the Sabalones drug group previously backed the campaign machinery of politicians in San Fernando.
“Yung aming information gathering patuloy ito, and we have sources to believe na patuloy pa rin ang drug dealing na nangyayari sa San Fernando. nagkaroon ng bagong personnel and isa ito sa indicators na totoo ang information (may resurgence),” Abrugena said. — GAN (FREEMAN)
