South bus terminal to close on Sinulog

Lorraine Mitzi A. Ambrad - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — Buses heading south will be stationed at the South Road Properties (SRP) during the Sinulog because the Cebu South Bus Terminal (CSBT) will be closed starting on the eve of the grand parade.

The terminal will be transferred temporarily to a vacant lot across Il Corso. CSBT manager Jonathan Tumulak said jeepneys will be given special permits by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to ferry passengers from either Mambaling flyover or Compaña Maritima to the temporary bus terminal at SRP.

He said drivers who are interested to do the service may also apply at the LTFRB.

CSBT will reopen on the evening of January 20 after the grand parade. Tumulak said that the normal terminal operation is expected to resume around 8 to 10 in the evening.

Despite the expected heavy volume of passengers coming in, the terminal management will continue to implement no standing and no overloading policies.

Aside from the terminal matters, Tumulak said he will also coordinate with the traffic managers as he expects the volume of vehicles to rise during the Sinulog season.

“Mo-coordinate ta ni Mandaue ug Talisay nga ato silang awhagon nga mo-come up sila og traffic plan para ining umaabot nga Sinulog tungod kay nag-expect ta nga grabe ang traffic inig ka-human sa Sinulog tungod kay magdungan man og pagpanggawas ang mga tawo. (We will coordinate with Mandaue and Talisay to come up with a traffic plan because we expect heavy traffic after the Sinulog since people will be going out at the same time),” he told THE FREEMAN.—  FPL (FREEMAN)
