‘Rape’ victim killed, dumped in Carcar

Mae Clydyl L. Avila - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines —  A 14-year-old student was found lifeless and confirmed to have been molested before she was thrown off at Sitio Sangi, Barangay Guadalupe, Carcar City early morning on Christmas day.

The police identified the victim as Ruby Trinidad, a grade 11 student from Barili, Cebu.

Carcar Police Station Chief Gregori Galsim, in a phone interview with The FREEMAN, said that the victim had been sexually assaulted, based on the medical records.

However, there were no visible wounds aside from the hematoma forming in the different parts of her body.

Galsim said that the victim was not killed in the bushy area where a 15-year-old boy had found her lifeless.

He said it was possible she was killed and assaulted in Barili and thrown off in Carcar, Cebu to hide the perpetrators’ tracks.

He said that they are tracing and monitoring all the friends she was last seen with before the incident.

The girl was reportedly known to have a lot of friends and she may have met them moments before the incident.

“Isa sa mga tinitingnan natin ay yung ang pagkakaroon niya ng maraming kaibigan, i-trace natin kung mayroon bang nakakita sa kanya moments before to namatay.  Kasi, sa tingin naming hindi siya napatay dito sa area, at itinapon lang,” Galsim said.

Police Regional Office (PRO)-7 Director Debold Sinas, in a press conference yesterday, said he had directed the chief of Carcar police to look further into the incident and solve it.

“We give it to the chief of police to find the perpetrators para managot sila sa nangyari sa bata, because clearly she was violated,” he said.

The victim’s remains had been turned to her family and now arranging for a wake in Barili. — GAN (FREEMAN)
