No enforcers for coastal road
CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu City Transportation Office said they will not be deploying traffic enforcers at the Cebu South Coastal Road to man the traffic flow as the traffic there is manageable.
CCTO operations chief Francisco Ouano said this was determined after they inspected the area last Sunday afternoon.
He went there after RSF, the owner of the amusement rides being used at South Road Properties, requested for the deployment of traffic enforcers.
Ouano also checked the parking area which is located near SRP Sugbo Grounds. “Boom na Boom sa Sugbo” is leasing the open space of Filinvest Land Inc. (FLI) and the rides are part of the attraction.
"Nag-request sila og enforcers kay basin unya modaghan ang tawo, pero pag-adto nako manageable raman," Ouano said.
However, he said CCTO's Mobile Patrol Group will roam around the area every now and then to monitor the traffic situation.
"If modaghan g’yud ang tawo, we will provide them as soon as possible…Og kinahanglan, magdeploy og taw. Magbutang g’yud ta," Ouano said.
The "Boom na Boom sa Sugbo" officially opened to the public last Saturday night. The public is expected to flock to the area to experience the rides and other attractions there.
In addition, there is already a huge of volume of private vehicles, buses, mini-buses, and delivery trucks passing by the during peak hours since they are not allowed to access N. Bacalso Avenue due to the ongoing construction of underpass.
RSF was not available for comment yesterday.
Over 18 rides will be available to the public from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. Prices of the rides ranges from P30 to P50. The entrance fee is P20 during weekdays and P25 during weekends and holidays.
“Boom na Boom sa Sugbo” will be on until February 2019. (FREEMAN)
