CEBU, Philippines — Around 200 personnel of the Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) underwent a surprise drug test last Saturday.

MCPO Director Julian Entoma said that they will be conducting drug test in different police station in coordination with the PNP Crime Laboratory.  This is part of the PNP’s continuous internal cleansing.

"Gi-schedulan mi sa Crime lab. As of now, tulo pa ka (police station) nahuman," Entoma said.

He added that he did not receive information that his personnel are drug users or are involved in the illegal drug trade.

"Wala na gyud koy nadawat na ingun-ana nga hugon hugon ba.  Mao unta ang purpose sa drug-test. Wala na sa nalambigit sa MCPO," he said.

The personnel of the Operations Office in the headquarters also underwent drug test. The results are yet to be released.

If a police is found positive of drug use, Entoma said they will press charges against the person and it may result in dismissal from service.

They will also be advised to go to a second round of drug test or confirmatory test.

"Dili na mi gusto nga duna pa gihapon mogamit nga hangtod karong panahona. Dugay na ta nagtrabaho kontra illegal drugs unya naa pa diay atong kapolisan nga mogamit og ginadiling drugas," he said.

The last time MCPO conducted a drug test was in June this year as instructed by Chief Superintendent Debold Sinas of the Police Regional Office (PRO) - 7.

No one from MCPO was found positive of drug use. (FREEMAN)
