CEBU, Philippines — Police clearance issued by the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) is now in a Polymerizing Vinyl Chloride (PVC) type of ID.

The person requesting the clearance will also be given a certificate containing the records of the requesting party.

The process will take an hour which costs P260.

Senior Superintendent Royina Garma, CCPO director, underwent the process during the launching yesterday and got her clearance in 10 minutes.

Garma said that the first to have PVC ID and document was Mandaue City Police Office and then followed by Lapu-Lapu City Police Office.

The contractor which provides the system and the printing is Eastland Printing. The system is connected with all the stations they provided nationwide.

The synchronizing system improves data collection of persons which may have police records in places outside Cebu.

An encoder of the service provider, Lara Esidera, said that both the certificate and the ID are valid for a year.

To prevent the ID from being falsified, there is QR code that distinguishes each ID from another.

She said that with shorter queues, the processing will usually take 15 minutes but depending on the number of people, it may reach to an hour.

One of those who of the new clearance was Cecilia Blanco Booc, 53, a licensed teacher who will be applying for a new job.

She said that the ID is convenient in government transactions.

“Definitely magamit na gyud ni siya as valid ID. At least anywhere we can bring this, kaysa paper lang. But the space lang, is not big enough to cater to the number of people. Mura ta og mga sardinas,” she said. (FREEMAN)
