CEBU, Philippines —  The Cebu Provincial Police Office recorded a drop in the crime volume of the Province of Cebu in the third quarter of 2018.

During the Provincial Advisory Council Summit last Friday, the Police Regional Office-7 presented the crime status of the province.

The report said that from June to September 2017, there were 15,343 non-index crimes and 3,893 index crimes.

This year's third quarter, the non-index crime went down to 13,336 while the index crime dropped to 3,081.

Theft cases occupied 40 percent of the index crimes this year followed by physical injuries, 29 percent.

Senior Supt. Manuel Javier Abrugena, director of CPPO, admitted that addressing theft cases is hard with the absence of public awareness.

"We will address this to our community police relations to provide information materials para maiwasan ang theft. Mga security tips ng bawat bahay," he said.

Abrugena added they are grateful for the support they received from the local government and the private sector. — LPM (FREEMAN)
