Pa faces child abuse raps for hitting 8-year-old daughter
CEBU, Philippines — A 31-year-old man is facing child abuse charges for allegedly hitting his eight-year-old daughter using a belt and a water pipe until she vomited blood.
Prosecutor II Genevieve Tabada-Lawas said because of the alleged actuation of the father, his daughter suffered physical injuries that resulted in her confinement.
Lawas recommended P80,000 bail for the father's temporary liberty while the case for child abuse is pending before the court.
The FREEMAN withheld the names of the parties to protect their identities.
In her sworn-statement, the girl, a resident of Barangay Mabolo, Cebu City, alleged that last September 10 at around 11 p.m., her father hit her using a belt and a water pipe three times.
Her father only stopped after seeing that she vomited blood.
Before the incident, she said she was watching a television while his father was resting.
When asked by the investigator what leads her father to hit her, the minor thought her father got mad because she continued to watch shows and it disturbed him from resting.
Her mother and sibling were present during the incident but did nothing because they were afraid of their father who is allegedly a drug addict.
The minor said her father had the tendencies of hitting her mother and sibling if they stop him.
She added it was not the first time that her father hit her. (FREEMAN)
