Luigi vows continued support for law enforcement agencies

CEBU, Philippines — Mandaue City Mayor Gabriel Luis Quisumbing has promised to continue supporting law enforcement agencies in their war against illegal drugs.

“We will continue to support the police, PDEA (Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Central Visayas) and CIDG (Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Central Visayas) in their mission to detect, investigate and eliminate the drug menace from our beloved city,” he said.

The mayor’s statement came after the Police Regional Police in Central Visayas (PRO-7) awarded the city government with a plague of recognition on September 10.

“In grateful appreciation for the invaluable services, support and cooperation extended to PRO-7 in the successful campaign against all forms of criminality and in the maintenance of a favorable peace and order atmosphere in Central Visayas,” read the citation.

The award was handed over to Quisumbing by Chief Superintendent Debold Sinas, PRO-7 director, during the culmination of the 24th National Crime Prevention Week.

“This award comes at a particularly important here in Mandaue City as certain forces, with the support of narco-politicians, have been emboldened by political developments to attempt to bring drugs back after two successful years against the drug menace,” Quisumbing said.

“I am grateful to the PNP and Napolcom for this recognition for our contribution to the president’s directive to stamp out criminality, drugs, and narco-politics. More than the award, however, I am most grateful for the gallantry and dedication to service of our men and women in uniform,” he added.

Aside from the mayor, the regional directors from the Bureau of Fire and Protection, and the PDEA-7 also received plaques of recognition. (FREEMAN)
