Duterte to meet Visayas mayors
CEBU, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte is expected in Cebu tomorrow for the Visayas Island Cluster Conference of the League of Municipalities in the Philippines which will be attended by 369 mayors from Central, Eastern, and Western Visayas regions.
Tuburan Mayor Aljun Diamante, president of the LMP -Cebu Chapter and vice president of the Visayas Cluster, confirmed that Duterte will attend the meeting.
Based on the program obtained by The Freeman, former President and now House Speaker Gloria Macapagal Arroyo is also expected to come.
The other officials who confirmed their attendance to the meeting include Secretary John Castriciones (Department of Agriculture), Secretary Virginia Orogo (Department of Social Welfare and Development), Secretary Guiling Mamondiong (Technical Education Skills and Development Authority), Secretary Delfin Lorenzana (Department of National Defense), Secretary Bernadette Puyat (Department of Tourism), Special Assistant to the President Bong Go, Political Adviser Francis Tolentino, and Presidential Assistant for the Visayas Michael Lloyd Dino.
Senators Koko Pimentel, JV Ejercito and several congressmen are also expected to join. The conference has a theme, "Kaunlaran ng Bansa, sa Bayan nagmumula."
A welcome dinner for all the participants is scheduled tonight with Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos and former Senator Jinggoy Estrada. (FREEMAN)
