To stop drug trade 42 cops deployed in Tangke, Talisay

Ermida Q. Moradas - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — More than 40 personnel from the Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB) were deployed yesterday in Barangay Tangke, Talisay City to address the rampant illegal drug activities in the area.

Police Superintendent Marlu Conag, Talisay City Police Station chief, said that they requested an augmentation of personnel from the Police Regional Office (PRO)-7 to help them in eradicating illegal drugs in the city, particularly in Barangay Tangke.

Conag, in a phone interview with The FREEMAN, said that based on their assessment, Barangay Tangke was one of the seriously affected villages in Talisay City with illegal drugs.

The request for augmentation was also an initiative of the local government unit of Barangay Tangke to resolve the rampant illegal drug transactions in the area.

Conag, however, clarified that the personnel deployed will not concentrate only on Barangay Tangke but also in all barangays in Talisay City.

“Five teams sila at ngayon diyan lang muna sila sa Tangke, temporarily.  But, kung may mga tawag sa ibang barangay ay mag-respond din sila,” said Conag.

He added that he will also be deploying his police force together with the RMFC team to supervise and guide them.

Conag also said that despite the augmentation coming from RMFC, the Talisay police will not lower their guards and will continue intensifying their anti-illegal drug operations.

“High hopes tayo na bababa ang illegal drugs sa mga areas lalo na mas dumarami na ang ating police visibility. Sa nakikita natin ay positive naman ang welcome ng tao sa area,” Conag said.

The 42 personnel from RMFB will also be under Conag’s supervision. — GAN (FREEMAN)
