Lightning strikes;1 dead, 1 injured
CEBU, Philippines — One died while another was injured after they were struck by a lightning inside an open shanty in Barangay Canlumampao, Toledo City around 2 p.m. last Sunday.
The police said Jayson Alicaba, 30, a resident of the place, died while his companion, Antonio Camingao, 35, suffered minor burns.
Senior Police Officer 1 Roxam Enerio of Toledo Police Station said that due to the heavy rain, the victims, while on their way home, stopped and took shelter in an open shanty when a lightning struck them.
“Namahuway daw ni sila didto unya naigo sa kilat. Kusog man ang uwan ug sige pud og pangilat atong panahona,” said Enerio.
The victims were immediately rushed to the nearest hospital, however, Alicaba was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
Camingao, who sustained minor burns, is now recovering in a hospital. —/GAN (FREEMAN)
