CEBU, Philippines — At least 13 colorum tourist vans were apprehended by the operatives of the Land Transportation Office-7 yesterday.

Most of the apprehensions were done in Lapu-Lapu City, said LTO-7 director Victor Caindec. Aside from the 13 vans that are now at the impounding area of the LTO-7, there was also one unit abandoned by the driver.

"Ang usa wala lang sa namo gi-impound kay wala may driver, nidagan man. Lisud na og among e-impound kay pasanginlan lang niya mi og carnapping. But eventually, amoa ra gihapon ning i-impound kay colorum man lang gihapon," said Caindec.

Caindec said they are intensifying their anti-colorum campaign to comply with the directive of President Rodrigo Duterte to apprehend unauthorized vehicles used for public transportation nationwide.

"Daghan pa gyud mga colorum nga mga tourist van, pasabot ana daghan pa ming dakponon," said Caindec.

Each colorum tourist van will be penalized P200,000 plus three months impoundment.

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board-7 and the Highway Patrol Group likewise intensified their campaign against colorum vehicles. Since February, a total of 34 units were already apprehended by the joint operatives of LTFRB-7 and HPG-7.

"Gikinahanglan gyud nga panghingusgan ang kampanya batok aning colorum labi na ning mga tourist vans kay og madisgrasya simbako, walay insurance ang mga pasahero," said Caindec.

LTFRB-7 director Ahmed Cuizon had been warning colorum operators to stop their illegal operations before it’s too late.

"We will not stop until we get you," Cuizon reiterated his warning.  — FPL (FREEMAN)
