Tomas in Korea for sister city visit
CEBU, Philippines — Mayor Tomas Osmeña is on an official trip to Korea upon the invitation of Ju Cheolyeon, Mayor of Yeuso, Cebu City’s sister city.
In the invitation letter from Ju, Osmeña’s trip will be paid for by the city government of Yeuso so that he can enjoy the city's beautiful places, food, history and culture.
Osmeña is with Alvin Dizon, the chairman of the Cebu City Sisters Cities Commission.
They will be staying at the Bellagio Luxury Hotel. Today, they will see places such as the Dolsan Park which has a great view of the sunset, the Marine Cable Car connecting the Dolson Island and the mainland over the ocean and the Odongdo Island with 70 species of flowers.
They will also visit the Sky Tower, Expo Ocean Park and the Aqua Planet. They will also witness the two-kilometer Tongaeyoung Parade and the Turtle Ship Festival Opening Ceremony.
The 52nd Yeosu Turtle Ship Festival is a local event of tradition and history celebrated every month of May.
The Geobukseon (turtle ship) was used in the great battle of Hansan, a Korean-Japanese war in 1592 and is one of the four most famous sea battles in world history.
Osmeña and Dizon will be back in Cebu this Sunday. — CNU Intern/MBG (FREEMAN)
