CCPO lacks officials to act as station deputy chief

Mae Clydyl L. Avila - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) is short of police commissioned officers that will serve as second-in-command in police stations.

Superintendent Artemio Ricabo, Deputy City Director for Administration and spokesperson of CCPO, told The FREEMAN some stations do not have deputy chiefs with ranks of Inspector and Senior Inspector who can share the duties of the station chief.

When Chief Inspector Jacinto Mandal, chief of Carbon Police Station, was relieved after one of his men was arrested in a drug sniffing session, the PNP had to get an officer from Mandaue City Police Office to take over as Mandal did not have a deputy chief.

But Ricabo explained that Chief Inspector Allan Rosario will be effective as the new chief of Carbon police as he was formerly assigned as chief of Waterfront Police of CCPO.

However, CCPO Director Senior Superintendent Joel Doria assured that 13 new police commissioned officers will be assigned to CCPO after they have completed a mandatory schooling.

For his part, Chief Superintendent Robert Quenery, director of Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7), told The FREEMAN that they are reviewing their personnel deployment.

“We are now reviewing the disposition of our personnel and try to as much as possible fill up yung kulang,” Quenery said. (FREEMAN)
