CEBU, Philippines — The Traffic Enforcement Agency of Mandaue (TEAM) is asking the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to put up signage, advisories and directional signs on Ouano Ave. to guide motorists passing the area.

Glenn Antigua, chief of operations of TEAM, has raised this concern to DPWH-7 Regional Director Ador Canlas yesterday.

"Nihangyo ta ni RD Canlas nga magpabutang ta og additional signages ug traffic barriers aron ma segregate ang flow sa light vehicles ug trucks," he said. (We asked RD Canlas to put up additional signage and traffic barriers.)

The Ouano Avenue was closed starting yesterday because the DPWH will undertake its first phase of the road concreting project that will last for three months.

The agency's P223.707-million project has a total of six phases which will be completed in one year.

Antigua said that peak hours in the area is between 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.

Around 20 TEAM enforcers were deployed to control the traffic flow on Ouano Avenue yesterday.

Although they did not see a heavy flow of traffic yesterday morning, Antigua said motorists are still lost and confused where to go.

Traffic flow along Zuellig Avenue was smooth and that no vehicles or motorcycles were parked in the area.

"Flowing ra man ang Zuellig (Avenue). Two weeks before nag sugod ang project, nagpahibaw ta daan nga walay mag-park didto," he added. (Traffic flow on Zuellig Avenue was smooth because we already announced two week before the project started that parking is not allowed in the area.)

Instead of using the right-most lane for light vehicles, Antigua said this was transferred to the left-most lane.

He explained that the drainage area is found in the right-most lane and that rainwater should flow freely in this area during heavy downpour.

The TEAM will continue to monitor the traffic flow in the area. (FREEMAN)
