CEBU, Philippines — A Korean national was shot inside his black Innova car along A.S. Fortuna Street, Barangay Banilad, Mandaue City Friday night.

Police identified the victim as Sang Ho Lee, a resident of Sitio Looc, Barangay Maribago, Lapu-Lapu City, who was declared dead on arrival after he was rushed to the Mandaue City District Hospital.

Chief Inspector Ildefonso Miranda, Jr. of the Casuntingan Police Station 4 said the victim was shot by one of the two motorcycle-riding assailants around 9 p.m.

Recovered from the crime scene were five empty shells and three slugs of an undetermined firearm.

Miranda said they still have to determine the motive of the killing.

Cordova killing

About the same time in Cordova, Cebu, a 48-year-old company desludging supervisor was shot by an unidentified assailant in Barangay Pilipog.

Romano Tecson, 48, a resident of the area, suffered gunshot wounds to his head and body, said Senior Police Officer 1 Alex Noron of the Cordova Police Station.

Noron said that Tecson was about to go home from his work in a private septage plant when he chanced upon his neighbors who were drinking and decided to join them.

During their drinking session, Tecson reportedly walked across the road to use the restroom when the assailant shot him.

“Nag-inom siya sa iyahang mga kauban unya nilabang sa atbang padung sa planta kay mohapit og CR, unya nikalit abot ang suspect adto dayon siya gipusil,” Noron said.

Nearby residents told police that the unidentified assailant shot Tecson first in his stomach and then in his head.

Tecson was rushed to the Lapu-Lapu City Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Witnesses said the lone gunman was wearing a black jacket, maong pants, and a cap.

“Matud sa nakakita, naglakaw ra ni ang suspect pagkahuman,” Noron said, adding that the neighbors got scared and no one bothered to arrest the perpetrator.

Recovered from the crime scene were two empty shells of a .45 caliber pistol.

Noron said the investigation is ongoing and a manhunt operation has been launched to arrest the suspect.

Lapu-Lapu shooting

Meanwhile, a 39-year-old guitar maker was shot around 1 p.m. yesterday in Barangay Abuno-Pajac, Lapu-Lapu City.

Felix Amistad, Jr., a resident of Barangay Agus, suffered several gunshot wounds to his body and was rushed to the Lapu-Lapu City District Hospital, but was declared dead on arrival.

Senior Police Officer 1 Luisito Ernie, homicide investigator of Lapu-Lapu City Police Office (LCPO), said the victim was shot by unidentified gunmen wearing full-faced helmets and who immediately fled from the crime scene.

One of Amistad’s male workmates told Ernie that he heard two gunshots and noticed the victim running inside his house, but the unknown assailants reportedly followed him. The police recovered a slug and an empty shell of a .45 caliber from the crime scene. (FREEMAN)
