City exec: No need to remind allies on gov’t vehicle use
CEBU, Philippines - Mandaue City Administrator James Abadia yesterday said City Hall is not issuing any reminder to ally barangay captains on the use of government-owned properties in partisan activities.
“They already know that,” he said when asked by the media if the city will make such a reminder after Tabok Barangay Councilor Windyl Alilin filed a complaint before the Office of the Ombudsman Visayas against Barangay Captain Dario Tariman and job order employees Thadeo Iwayan, April Perez, and Boboy Tundag.
Iwayan, Perez, and Tundag allegedly used a government-issued multicab while mounting Liberal Party posters last month.
Alilin also alleged that Tariman committed abuse of authority when he allegedly sent the three men, who worked for the barangay, to mount those huge tarpaulins using the barangay multicab.
A photo uploaded by Alilin showing a government multicab bearing license plate SJZ 471 and loaded with large tarpaulins of Liberal Party candidates in Mandaue City recently went viral on social media.
The barangay councilman said he saw the three employees carry the campaign materials and place them in three different locations in Tabok. — (FREEMAN)
