MANILA, Philippines — Gumawa rin ng ingay si Brent International School Manila standout Ethan Waskiewicz matapos kumana ng gintong medalya sa Asia Pacific Activities Conference (APAC) Swimming Championships na ginanap sa Seoul Foreign School swiming pool sa Seoul, South Korea.

Inilabas ni Waskiewicz ang bangis nito para angkinin ang gintong medalya sa boys’ 50m backstroke sa bendisyon ng impresibong 29.22 segundo.

“The races were very fun and challenging too, As for one of my events which was the 50m backstroke, I got second on the prelims, and got first place on the finals,” ani Waskiewicz.

Naungusan nito si silver medalist Wilfred Ding ng Hong Kong International School na may dikit na 29.61 segundo gayundin si bronze medalist Christian Lee ng host Seoul Foreigh High School na nagtala ng 31.16 segundo.

“I would say that my first APAC experience was amazing, im very grateful and happy for being involved in this competition with many strong swimmers here,” dagdag ni Waskiewicz.

Nasiguro ni Waskiewicz ang ikalawang ginto nito sa boys’ 200m medley relay.

Nakipagsanib-puwersa si Waskiewicz kina Ethan Hodges, Connor Hodges at Yuan Wang sa pagtarak ng 2:00.10 upang makuha ang gintong medalya.

Tinalo ng Brent squad sinaJude Kim, David Lee, Moonjin Hong at Emmett Hill ng CIV na sumiguro ng pilak tangan ang 2:05.06 at sina Benjamin Josi, David Lee, Cedric Rombouts at Noah Josi ng UNIS na nagkasya sa tanso (2:09.56)

Nakahirit din ng pilak si Waskiewicz sa boys’ 100m backstroke sa bendisyon ng 1:07.44 performance nito habang may tanso ito sa boys’ 200m freestyle relay kasama ang Hodges brothers at si Wang.

“I look forward to the next APAC coming soon next year, and I want to get myself to prepare for that by training hard all the way. Our Brent team worked hard and I am thankful for my parents especially my mom, Team Brent Aqualions, coaches Coach Monching & Len from Brent, Coach Mae and Carlo Carmona of Santa Rosa Swim Team,” ani Waskiewicz.
