Prayer is an Inner Divine Communion with God

I personally find nothing more fulfilling than talking with the Lord in my heart and mind in whatever I do and wherever I go every moment of the day. It is my divine communion with the Lord.

I remember one time when my youngest son Michaelangelo was still staying in the Opus Dei center in Manila, he told me that whatever we do, we should offer it to the Lord as prayer. Hence, we always give our level best in whatever work we have and whatever we perform. It is our offering and a gift to the Lord

Iyanla Vanzant, in her book, “Every Day I Pray,” has this inspiring message: “…I do believe that prayer is an inner communion with the divine. I realize that the essence, energy, power, and presence of God is in fact housed at the core of my being. I also understand that God does in fact hear my every thought and word. His response shows up as my experiences, my feelings, and the many divine inspirations that have shaped the course of my life. This means that when I am consciously participating in the communion, amazing things can, will, and do happen… In essence, I have learned that I must talk to God, commune with God, stay conscious of God’s presence within me at all times…”

Humbly I must confide that wherever I go, either riding in a taxi, walking in the mall, or in my moments of solitude, I lift my concerns to Him, and ask His grace for the day. I also ask Him to give me the grace to understand the behavior of people in my path and those whom I meet along the way. True, indeed, God’s grace makes my day.

Speaking of Communion, let me share these divine insights on the power of Holy Communion from the www.jpsephprince.org website:

• The Holy Communion, known also the Lord’s Supper, represents the greatest expression of God’s love for His people.

• Two items are used in the Holy Communion – the bread which represents Jesus’ body that was scourged and broken before and during the crucifixion, and the cup which represents His shed blood.

• When Jesus walked on earth, He was vibrant, and His body was full of life and health. He was never sick. But before Jesus went to the cross, He was badly scourged by the Roman soldiers, and His body was torn as He was hung on the cross.

• At the cross, God also took our sicknesses and diseases and put them on Jesus’ originally perfect and healthy body, so that we can walk in divine health. That is why the Bible says, “By His stripes, we are healed” (Isaiah 53:5; 1 Peter 2:24).

• Today, when we partake of the bread, we are declaring that Jesus’ health and divine life flows in our mortal bodies. And when we partake of the cup, we are declaring that we are forgiven and have made righteous standing.  When we pray, we can be sure that God hears us. Remember that the Holy Communion is not a ritual to be observed, but a blessing to be received.
