The Freeman’s Christmas Shindig

PEOPLE PLACES - Flor Ynclino - The Freeman

For the past 36 years I`ve been with the Freeman, I`ve never seen or witnessed in all our Christmas parties the most hilarious and most entertaining ever. Themed “The Retro 70s,” everybody donned on their 70s costumes, with both men and women personnel and reporters wearing their beautifully-coiffed wigs in different shades. Even our hosts for the evening`s program. Yuri wore an afro wig, and his co-host, reporter Lorraine Mitzi Ambrad, wore a violet wig. But the most beautiful costume of the evening – which was declared the winner – was the one designed and made personally by reporter Mitchelle Palaubsanon herself. Orig and beautiful indeed!

Our program started with a short welcome address by vice-chairman Johnvic Gullas. Thereafter, dinner followed. And then, the grand presentation of the Retro 70s rolled on with a parade of those whose costumes were, well, out of this world.

We missed our beloved chairman Sir Dodong Gullas. But we were still elated that our president, Sir Miguel Belmonte was able to join us despite his busy schedules in Manila. And in his touching but simple message during this Christmas party, coming from his heart was a very positive outlook for the coming year, and in fact he said, “We have to work harder, be ‘matatag’ because I can see that 2019 will be a better year for all of us all!” Looking at Sir Miguel, we knew he was enjoying every minute of the party. For us, it was the most wonderful and memorable party we ever had, and everyone had fun, fun, and fun! PTL.

On the other hand, the MSY ladies Club had a Christmas lunch and fellowship at The Pig & Palm. Hosted by the indefatigable Mariquita Yeung, the ladies, numbering around 25, wore red and white outfits. The most Christmassy outfit was worn by Inday Taylor who was voted as having the most colorful and Christmas-Tree costume.

Dr. Jose “Bebe” Barba came back a month a few weeks ago as he promised the last time he was here. But this time he was one of the sponsors of a wedding of his niece. As usual, before he left back for New Jersey, we had dinner at Casino Español as he just loved the “lengua estofada” in Casino Español.
