In time for the holiday season, SM Supermalls recently released a Christmas-themed short video that quickly made rounds on social media because of its tear-jerking plot-twist about a heartwarming relationship between an orphan and his three mothers.

Published on December 11, the #SMoments video called “Nanay” already scored more than a million views on Youtube as it continues to spawn a flurry of emotions from netizens who couldn’t get enough of the touching story.

The video begins when Paolo had a brief moment of nostalgia while he was on his way to meet his mothers for their yearly Christmas celebration.

Upon seeing a carousel, Paolo recalled how much he enjoyed playing with his Mama Teresita when he was still young.

After a few moments, he then briefly stopped in front of a food court and reminisced those days he shared with his Mama Martha and recalled how she never let him go hungry whenever they were together.

As he was making his way to meet them, he stumbled into a toy store and instantly remembered pleasant memories of his Mama Isabel and how she never got tired of taking care of him while he was playing with the other children.

Netizens were in awe upon seeing the plot-twist of the story, realizing that Paolo’s mothers turned out to be nuns who unselfishly took on the role as his parents when they met him at the orphanage.

Although Paolo grew up without his biological parents to guide and shape him into being a better person, he never felt the void that was left by his parents because of the love and affection of his mothers.

Paolo realized that even though his Mama Teresita, Mama Martha, and Mama Isabel may have different ways of expressing their love to him while he was growing up, they all wanted the same thing for him — to constantly make him feel that he is surrounded with people who love him the most, that despite their unusual family ties, their relationship with each other will always be special.

“Kahit lumaki pa ako sa bahay ampunan, punong-puno ang buhay namin ng pagmamahal (Even though I grew up at an orphanage, our lives were filled with love),” Paolo said.

Many netizens were quick to react on the tear-jerker video and shared how they relate to Paolo’s story. Some shared their similar story of having three mothers while others couldn’t help but express how watching the short video made them very emotional and grateful.

Meanwhile, others said that the touching story of Paolo shows the importance of taking care of your parents.

Despite growing up in an orphanage, Paulo never felt the lack of love because of his mothers who constantly made him feel loved and special during those crucial times of growing up.

The now viral video of SM Supermalls’ #SMomentsjust goes to show that families can still celebrate Christmas with genuine love, joy, and affection despite having an unconventional setup as maternal love transcends blood ties.

Meanwhile, the same video posted on its Facebook page has already garnered more than 1.2 million views and 28 thousand likes.
