CEBU, Philippines — Cebu not only keeps itself abreast with the latest fashion turns, the city’s fashion prime-movers also regularly dish out their latest creations.
In the month that just ended, the city had a number of fashion shows and new collection unveilings. Various designers and brands amped up October with special gatherings and celebrations.
“Intemporel”
October 5; Pacific Grand Ballroom, Waterfront Cebu City Hotel & Casino
A highlight of the hotel’s annual bridal fair, “Intemporel” was headlined by the in-season bridalwear creations of Cebu’s Bree Esplanada, Edwin Alba, Hanz Coquilla, Harvey Cenit, Humberto Villegas, Lord Maturan, Mel Maria and Mike Yapching – fineries which embodied timeless design concepts that speak of the Cebuano designers’ keen attention to detail.
The “ATG X Jaime Chua” Trunk Show
October 12 & 13; The Holistic Coalition of the Willing (HoliCOW) Gallery, The Crossroads
Homegrown jewelry event All That Glitters (ATG) presented its 2018 holiday collection with rare and exotic orchid flowers grown by Cebuano architect and landscaper Jaime Chua in a two-day trunk show.
Titled “ATG X Jaime Chua,” the occasion featured a series of flower-inspired jewelry pieces by ATG – each presented next to the actual orchids which served as their design inspirations.
The Heritage Accessories Launch
October 7; Cebu Grand Convention Center
One of Cebu’s longest-running furniture brands – Heritage Muebles Mirabile – marked a milestone during its 25th anniversary celebration last month with the launch of “Heritage Accessories.”
Gilded with layered nacre (also known as mother of pearl), the brand’s debut line of clutches has a minimalist tone that’s meant to complement various eveningwear ensembles.
“World-Class”
October 6; Pacific Grand Ballroom, Waterfront Cebu City Hotel & Casino
Mainlined by the creations of Michael Cinco, Francis Libiran, Furne Amato, Ezra Santos and Cary Santiago – five of the country’s highly-lauded and highly-respected designers – “World Class” is easily one of the best – if not the best – fashion presentation in Cebu in 2018.
