Our good friend, the very energetic Samantha Poon, director of communications of Marco Polo Hongkong was in Cebu to announce to all and sundry that Marco Polo Hotels Hongkong has now a new general manager – Dalip Singh.

Wharf Hotels was pleased to announce the promotion of Dalip Singh from hotel manager to general manager for Marco Polo Hotels-Hongkong. Reporting to the group`s vice-president Operations, Singh will be in charge of the very popular three Hongkong Hotels located on prestigious Canton Road: Marco Polo Hongkong, Gateway and Prince.

Dalip joined Marco Polo as hotel manager in December last year for the three cluster properties. Prior to his appointment with Wharf Hotels, he was managing director of KOP Properties, responsible for strategic growth and positioning of the company. A seasoned hotelier with more than two decades of experience, Singh has held senior management positions with reputable hotel groups like The Ritz Carlton and Dusit Hotel in his native Singapore, Malaysia and Dubai. His expertise includes hotel operations, safety and security, corporate operations and hotel pre-opening management. “Dalip was also instrumental in the achievement of the Hongkong Management Association Quality Award earlier this year and created an even stronger team spirit and alignment between the 3 hotels,” Samantha shared.

While in Cebu, Samantha hosted a media dinner at Marco Polo Plaza Cebu. Next day, Samantha flew to Davao to promote Marco Polo Hotel`s launching of new direct flights between Hongkong and Davao on Cathay Dragon from October 28 onwards. From October 11 to 13, Guest Chef Alex Destriza from Marco Polo Davao will present authentic Filipino cuisine at Three on Canton`s nightly dinner buffet at Gateway Hotel. A selection of home-style dishes showcasing the treasures and tastes of the Philippines will be prepared for guests’ unlimited enjoyment.
