Answering questions before you ask

THE TECH CIRCUIT - Yasunari Ramon Suarez Taguchi - The Freeman

Last week, Google began rolling out an update to its Google Assistant suite.

The update is a new overlay that proactively gives its users relevant information related to one’s schedule, habits, location and more, all-in-all allowing it to answer questions before users have to ask.

Designed to “curate” details that are relevant to a user, the update conveniently collates information in one place in a smartdevice, doing away with having to open a separate calendar or email app for schedule and/or task reminders.

By scraping and analyzing information in emails or calendars, the update can proactively inform a user if there are any bills due for the day, if he/she has upcoming appointments and the like. More information on the update is hosted on Google’s official online channels.

A step forward in the portable projectors segment

Sony recently had the launch of new technologies that are foreseen to cause significant shifts in the portable projectors segment.

The first maximizes the brand’s fine pixel pitch technology for high definition projections from a 0.37-type chip, while the other is a high definition signal processing device that enhances edge-blending features and geometric compensation.

Basically, the technologies allow for display projections of up to 4K resolutions on various surfaces in projectors that sport the portable form factor.

With more and more electronic consumers seeing the practical points in using projectors over traditional displays, the developments, as tech journalists and industry analysts have opined, paves the way for shifts in the overall display and screen sector, as they basically allow for pocket-sized 4K cinema screens that can be carried around by users in the days ahead.
