Why Mothers are Special People

CEBU, Philippines — Certain bonds are very strong and cannot be broken, and the bond of a child and a mother is one of them. Mothers are special people in our lives and families.

Many studies have indicated how important a mother’s love is and how it helps a child grow. The more love and care given to kids, the healthier and happier they will be later in life. Parental love in general – motherly love in particular – is a great source of emotional stability for the child that boosts the child’s self-esteem, improves the child’s health.

Today, Mother’s Day, thoughts of my dear mother fill up my mind. The most special person in my life passed away a few years back due to cancer. I know that as my mother was special to me, your mother is also special to you. No one can ever take the place of our mother in our lives.

A mother’s love is truly unconditional; her support always remains with us. Her forgiving nature makes her a very important person to us.

Motherhood is a most exciting, beautiful, painful, and difficult experience for any woman. She gives it her best. Yet no matter how much she had given, she feels that she should have done better, or that there is something still lacking in her efforts.

Mothers make a most unique bond with their kids. That strong bond is what often makes the mother feel the pain when her child falls and gets hurt. It’s that bond that makes her spend sleepless nights comforting her child who is sick or in trouble. At times, the mother just knows what her child feels or thinks, without the benefit of words being exchanged.

God chooses mothers to directly assist Him in the process of procreation. Mothers deserve such trust because of their beautiful qualities – they are enduring, giving, charming, forgiving, and willing to sacrifice for others, always ready to put others before themselves. A mother’s love is unconditional, selfless.

A nurturing nature is inborn with mothers, which makes them so special. Even a small girl loves cuddling her doll or loves playing with babies, an early sign of a motherly nature. And motherly traits like gentleness when speaking, the cuddling, the hugs and kisses are always very reassuring to kids, way beyond childhood.

Mothers are so abundant with joyful encouragement and appreciation of anything and everything their child does. They are so full of pride for the little achievements of their children, and can never grow tired of talking or showing their love for their children.

In the case of working mothers, they are superwomen. Working moms work full hours at the office, while they are full-time moms too. That means they work round the clock without complaining – just so that the family is well and happy.

For all that they do for their kids, mothers deserve this special day today, Mother’s Day. And children shall find a way to let Mom know that her services, her support and all her efforts are being recognized and appreciated.
