A New Chicken House Hatches in Cebu

Seeing the need for more dining options in Cebu, Peri-peri Charcoal Chicken and Sauce Bar spices things up by bringing the best of Portuguese and African flavors to the island. With 11 branches all over the Philippines, it introduced its distinct taste and playful flavors to Cebuanos at the launch of their newly hatched 12th branch at Meerea High Street, North Reclamation Area, Mandaue City last February 9.

The restaurant is named after the African Bird’s Eye Chili discovered many centuries ago by Portuguese explorers in search of the famed spice route. The passion to bring the flavor of the spicy chili to palates everywhere and introduce a new way to enjoy chicken led to its first restaurant in Greenhills, San Juan in Metro Manila in 2006. It serves up spit-fire grilled dishes marinated in a unique blend of various herbs and spices brought in all the way from Africa. Since then, the homegrown brand expanded their reach by filing a gap between fast-food and fine dining.

“What we bring to the table is a fast casual concept dining – affordable dishes served within five to 10 minutes but in a full restaurant setting in terms of ambiance, quality and service,” said Mr. Bryan Tiu, president of iFoods Corporation and visionary behind Peri-Peri Charcoal Chicken and Sauce Bar.

In Cebu, the restaurant is franchised by Vivo Sugbo Inc. headed by chairman and CEO Mr. Eric Ng Mednoza. “We saw the need to have more new concepts in Cebu that offer the winning formula of good food and value for money, and we knew Peri-Peri would be a welcome addition in the city.” The 210 square-meter fast casual concept restaurant can seat up to 150 people and features vibrant interiors with two private function rooms.

8 New Domestic Routes        

At the presscon held at Marco Polo Plaza two weeks ago, PAL senior area vice-president for sales Harry Inoferio, announced that the country’s flag carrier continues its route expansion with the opening of eight routes – from Clark and Cebu, in the first quarter of 2017. These are Clark-Cebu; Clark-Davao; Clark-Puerto Princesa; Clark-Coron (Busuanga); Cebu-Puerto Princesa; Cebu-General Santos; Cebu-Surigao and Cebu-Coron (Busuanga).

PAL president Jaime J. Bautista said, “We are introducing new domestic routes to allow travelers to reach their desired destinations without the need to transit in Manila. Passengers get to experience the unique PAL brand of service even on short flights,” he added.

The four-times-a-week Clark to Cebu service started last January 30 departing Clark at 7 a.m. Flights will increase to daily starting March 26. The three-times-weekly Clark to Davao flight began on February 1, leaving Clark 10:50 a.m. The service increases to four times weekly on March 26. The three-times-a-week Clark to Puerto Princesa service starts March 26, departing also at 10:50 a.m. Lastly, the daily Clark to Coron flights using the 56-seater Q300 airplane will also begin on March 26. The other new routes of Clark will use the 199-seater Airbus A321jet.
