A Pilgrimage to find Christ
CEBU, Philippines - The Archdiocesan Shrine of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is organizing a pilgrimage to visit the poor, where Christ promised to be found by those who seek Him.
The Catholic faithful is invited to spend a day among the fishermen's families in Northern Cebu, those who suffered from typhoon Yolanda. It is an opportunity for actual face-to-face interaction with the Yolanda victims.
According to the organizers, it is not the usual pilgrimage visiting shrines and churches, but one that visits Jesus among the poor, to hear his voice among the simple, suffering people.
A program of activities has been drawn for the pilgrimage, as well as the mechanics for the interaction between the visitors and the locals.
The pilgrimage is scheduled on either Tuesday, April 1 or Wednesday, April 9. Departure time from Cebu City is at 4:30 a.m., to return at around 7 p.m. on the same day. For more information, those interested to join may contact the Archdiocesan Shrine of the Sacred Heart of Jesus on D. Jakosalem St.
