Panglao Bluewater Beach Resort Groundbreaking

INTO THE SCENE - Han Kintanar -

A welcome development from the Almont Hotels and Resorts Corporation was formally announced when the Panglao Bluewater Beach Resort, another addition to the Bluewater chain of resorts, had its ground breaking ceremonies with no less than Tourism Secretary Ace Durano and Tourism Undersecretary Edu Jarque Jr. in attendance.

At the helm to welcome guests was Julie Alegrado-Vergara, President of Almont Hotels and Resorts Corporation, with her proud dad, the “brains” behind the successful Almont Hotels and Bluewater Resorts chain, Consul General of Austria Arcadio “Dodong” Alegrado. Of course, Julie’s ever beautiful sister and Bluewater Resorts director June and Julie’s very supportive hubby Vic Vergara were there, too.

To quote Julie, “There are few destinations in the Philippines where development partners environmental preservation. Our vision is to offer a resort that respects Bohol’s objectives and gives an experience that one expects from a luxurious resort, including the best of Filipino hospitality coupled with world class amenities and facilities.” The ground breaking also symbolizes the start of what the future is all about for the Bluewater brand. The first of the two-phase development will be completed on April 2011.

The Panglao Bluewater Beach Resort’s Filipino architecture compliments with its culture, inherent warm hospitality and eco-focused initiatives.  The resort’s designer is the well-acclaimed Benji Reyes who came up with an elegant yet organic, innovative and functional design concept. “There is a feel of luxurious sophistication but not stuffy. The atmosphere is kept friendly, comfortable and warm,” quipped Reyes.  The general look is softened by the use of reclaimed and recycled wood on structures and interiors, sculpted to infused charm and function with elements that will definitely promote Philippine art and ingenuity. The villas and deluxe rooms open up to an oasis lagoon-styled pools.

The resort will have six bars and restaurants which will serve Asian, European and continental cuisine to serve each and every guest depending on their cravings. The resort will also house Amuma Spa, Bluewater’s own spa and will offer its popular and signature therapy - the Filipino “hilot” using the finest local products with their well-trained crew for a more relaxing and invigorating stay.

Given all these, and considering Bluewater’s trademark of quality service and warm hospitality, the Panglao Bluewater Resort will definitely be another tourism destination in this part of the country and the world. Congratulations, more power and looking forward to April 2011! Cheers!
