Model Watch: The Search for the next Catwalk fashion icons

“Models out. Real people in.” — This almost seemed like a shout out as Model Watch, the search for the next Catwalk Models, held its first screening here in Cebu at the SM Entertainment Plaza last July 26.

After bringing up the hopes of hundreds of aspiring models from Davao, Cagayan de Oro, and Iloilo, Blutab Jeans together with Catwalk Models, were excited to continue their search at the Queen City of the South with the belief that Cebu is filled with confident, free-spirited, and smart people, the ones the organizers are really  looking for.

Mr. Arnold Galang, project director of Model Watch, shares, “Cebu is widely known for its beautiful and talented people. In fact, many famous models come from here. Nevertheless we believe that there are still a lot of Cebuanos and Cebuanas who are yet to be discovered.  With or without any experience in modeling, a person in Cebu who dreams of becoming a model and one who has the potentials of becoming one can join Model Watch.”

The nationwide search is open to all aspiring male and female models, ages 14- 28, at least 5’4” in height, who have proportional body measurements and are Filipino residents. From each screening, 10 applicants will be chosen to qualify for the grand finals which will be held at the Araneta Coliseum on December 3, 2008. Out of the expected 80 grand finalists, 12 will be proclaimed as winners of this search. Mr. Galang explained why more than one winner will be proclaimed during the grand finals, “We have found out that the reason why most aspirants back out even upon at the application stage is because they are discouraged by the usual one-winner-rule. In Model Watch, we want to give the aspirants as much hope as possible and more chances of winning.”

The winners will each receive P100, 000 worth of modeling contract from Catwalk Models, P10, 000, and P50, 000 worth of Blutab products, plus exposure to international modeling competitions.

And because the organizers are confident that they are going to get a good feedback from aspiring models here in Cebu, they’ll be having a second screening on October 12, 2008.
