STAR CIRCUIT - Ricky L. Calderon - The Freeman

The one and only Concert King Martin Nievera had a very successful concert at the The Theatre @ Solaire on Saturday night.

Titled “Martin Nievera Live Again,” the concert is his comeback performance at the popular venue where he mesmerized the audience with his own brand of music. His repertoire is a mix of his hit songs and pop songs for all ages.

From the way the audience responded to his performance, they truly enjoyed the musical experience that is uniquely Martin’s.

One of the most applauded numbers is the musical tribute he gave to American singers Lionel Richie, Stevie Wonder and Frank Sinatra.

Martin joked that most of the people in the audience were his fans when he started his career 40 years ago. He said this explains why majority of those in the audience are old like him.

Also most applauded was his medley of OPM hits, the Broadway musical segment where he rendered numbers from Phantom of the Opera, Cats, West Side Story and Jekyll and Hyde.

Of course, the audience will not let Martin go if he will sing his signature hits namely Ikaw ang Lahat sa Akin, Be My Lady, You Are My Song, Ikaw Lang ang Mamahalin, among others.

The Concert King thanked the people for coming all the way to Solaire to watch the show as the proceeds of the concert will fund the project of Rotary Club of Makati for children with heart disease.

Martin was overwhelmed with the reception of the audience to his first live concert after the pandemic and he is looking forward to doing more live concerts for the Pinoy audience.

“Maid In Malacanang,” the newest movie from Viva Films to be directed by the controversial Darryl Yap is a “family movie.”

Playing the lead roles are Cesar Montano as the late president Ferdinand Marcos, Ruffa Gutierrez as former First Lady Imelda Marcos, Cristine Reyes as Sen. Imee Marcos, Diego Loyzaga as Bongbong Marcos and Ella Cruz as Irene Marcos.

According to Boss Vic del Rosario, this is the biggest movie to date of Viva to have a theatrical release. It is set to be shown on July 20.

The movie will be shown all over the Philippines and in various platforms. “We hope that is going to be the first box-office film after the pandemic,” added Boss Vic.

Direk Darryl said the story will be based on the conversations he had with Sen. Imee Marcos who said this is their version of truth on their last 72 hours in Malacanang. He said he asked Sen. Marcos a lot of  questions on their last three days in the Palace.

He added that no one can refute the narrative of the story because only very few people were with Marcoses on those days.

Thru the movie we will be shown another side of the Marcos family -- that they are just like any ordinary Filipino family who goes through the comedy and drama that life has to offer.

While he has yet to hit his stride as a talent and make a mark in the industry comes this news that Joaquin Domagoso is a brand new father to a two-month-old baby.

The mother of his child is Raffa Castro, the daughter of former actor and now news broadcaster Diego Castro thru his second wife Rina Rosal.

Joaquin is being packaged as a matinee idol and the news that he is now a young father might affect his career.

We wonder what is the reaction of outgoing Manila Mayor Isko Moreno on this matter? What could his home network GMA 7 be planning for him with this development?
