Kylie Verzosa puts on a brave front

STAR CIRCUIT - Ricky L. Calderon - The Freeman

It was quite obvious that Kylie Verzosa was not her usual self when she attended the face to face press conference for the Vivamax movie “Ikaw Lang ang Mahal” last Friday, April 22, at La Reve Restaurant in Quezon City. She was trying to put up a brave front although she was definitely hurting.

It’s hard to move on after a breakup that is still very fresh but we admire Kylie’s courage to face the media even if there looms the possibility she might be asked about her breakup with Jake Cuenca.

But the beauty queen answered all the questions thrown at her, although she did so in short sentences or gave statements that she doesn’t want to answer particular queries related to her love life.

To be fair, the members of the media respected Kylie’s request not to respond to questions related to her lovelife. The press was not too inquisitive although there were a few who tried to get an answer by crafting leading questions that the actress simply brushed aside.

Actually, Kylie could have chosen to skip the presscon if she wanted to. She can reason out that she is hurting inside because of the state of her heart but to be fair to her, she didn’t break down. Instead, she gamely answered the best way she could.

Co-starring with Kylie in “Ikaw Lang ang Mahal” are Zanjoe Marudo and Cara Gonzales. Director Richard Somes commended his stars for their good acting.

Real life couple McCoy de Leon and Elisse Joson are sure to touch hearts in “Habangbuhay”, a Vivamax original movie that’s now available for streaming.

Elisse plays Bea. Diagnosed with Common Variable Immune Deficiency (CVID), her body has low levels of protective antibodies, thus making her highly susceptible to various infections. Because of this, Bea does not have the luxury to go places. Her over protective mother Lily (Yayo Aguila) just wants to keep her safe at home.

In spite of this, Bea maintains a cheerful disposition. She enjoys being in her own world filled with music, dreams, and imagination. She does live-    streaming to interact with other people. So, all things considered, Bea is doing good. And with JR around, she’s feeling even better.

McCoy de Leon is JR, the family’s houseboy. Years ago, Bea’s nanny took him home after finding him roaming the streets in tears. JR grew up taking life too seriously, even calling himself a “sad boy”. But as he learns to loosen up, Bea greatly enjoys his company. She’s proud to say that he’s the one who truly makes her feel alive.

But suddenly, this man whom Bea considers her “safe space” seems to be creating a gap between them. What will become of his promise that they’ll be together for a lifetime?

“Habangbuhay” is directed by Real Florido, winner of Best Director at the London Film Awards, and Best Feature Film at the Canada International Film Festival for the movie “1st Ko Si 3rd”. The same movie also won the Gender Sensitivity Award at the QCinema International Film Festival.

This is McCoy and Elisse’s first movie together since 2019 when they starred in “Sakaling Maging Tayo”. Since last year, McCoy has been visible on Vivamax because of the comedy series, “Puto”, and the musical film “Yorme – The Isko Moreno Domagoso Story”.

It was also in the latter part of 2021 that McCoy and Elisse revealed that they already have a baby daughter. The news was received positively and fans made #McLisse a trending topic.

Movie hunk Piolo Pascual swept Zamboanguenos off their feet in a visit to the Zamboanga peninsula on April 8 – his first campaign show for the 2022 elections.

Piolo, who joined Number 50 Ang Probinsyano Party-List led by Rep. Alfred  Delos Santos and Rep. Edward Delos Santos in their campaign sorties in Pagadian, Zamboanga del Sur; Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay and Sergio Osmena, Zamboanga del Norte, blew away the locals with his good looks and his signature charisma upon landing at Pagadian airport.

The actor is endorsing Ang Probinsyano, a party-list whose rural advancement advocacy he firmly believes in.

At the sortie venues, the cheering crowds also witnessed Piolo’s singing prowess when he rendered big hits like “Mangarap Ka” and “Hawak Kamay” so much so that at one point, a seemingly mesmerized fan in Pagadian City breached security and ran to the stage to hug the celebrity.

“I am here to campaign for the voice of probinsyanos like me in Congress, the ones who are genuinely working to raise the quality of our lives – Number 50 Ang Probinsyano Party List),” Piolo told lively crowds and local executives who came in full force.

“Let us vote for deserving candidates,” he added.
