Zanjoe initially felt awkward to be directed by Bela
Heeding the call to do more for the presidential bid of Vice-President Leni Robredo, celebrity supporters, led by actresses Angel Locsin and Marjorie Barretto, conducted house-to-house campaigns on Saturday, April 2, in various areas of the country.
Fresh from her Marawi City visit, Angel spearheaded the house-to-house campaign in Cagayan de Oro City and Misamis Oriental where she urged fellow supporters to speak to 10 people a day and encourage them to vote for VP Leni in the May elections.
Marjorie joined Aika Robredo, daughter of the Vice-President, as they visited several barangays in Quezon City. She actually started her house-to-house campaign the other day as she visited some areas in Pasig City, where she convinced voters that VP Leni is the most qualified to lead the country.
The “PieDu” love team of actor Edu Manzano and actress Cherry Pie Picache also went around a public market in Quezon City and talked to vendors who support other candidates about VP Leni and her plans for the country. They also met supporters of other candidates but they provided them with pamphlets and reading materials containing Robredo’s track record and accomplishments.
Actress-singer Agot Isidro joined the house-to-house campaign in Tagbilaran, Bohol and visited a public market together with VP Leni’s campaign manager, former Senator Bam Aquino.
Actress Pinky Amador and VP Leni’s sister-in-law, Dr. Josephine Robredo-Bundoc, discussed the Vice President’s “Oplan Angat Agad” platform (focused on employment, health and education) to residents as they went around Dumaguete City.
Robredo aims to assure that at least one family member is receiving a monthly salary while those who lost their jobs will get a three-month financial assistance while looking for employment. She also commits to provide each family with a free doctor and to make health care affordable for all Filipinos, and seeks to provide quality education to students that would help them secure their dream jobs.

Zanjoe Marudo felt somewhat awkward the first time he reported on the set of “366”, the debut directorial assignment of Bela Padilla. His thought balloon was that Bela won’t be strict and that he hopefully can still crack jokes on set.
It’s only now that the two are working again since their ABS-CBN teleserye years ago. In describing Bela as a director, Zanjoe said he learned a lot from his former leading lady. “Sabi sa akin ni Bela, ito lang ang gusto ko na gawin mo to interpret your role. Hindi kailangang sobra. Dapat sakto lang,” recalled Zanjoe, who just followed Bela’s vision as a filmmaker.
He even told Bela that he wished he was given the role of JC Santos instead. But Bela said she was able to watch Zanjoe’s past movies and was impressed. She has been a fan of Zanjoe and believes he fits his role in “366.”

Bela says directing was not a conscious choice although there were a lot of people who told her she can do it. She’s at the helm of “366”, a movie about moving on which she also wrote and will stream April 22 on Vivamax.
“Boss Vic (del Rosario) of Viva told me I am ready. I consider him like my father in the industry so when he told me I should go into directing, it was like giving me the seal of approval,” said Bela at a recent presscon.
Bela also heeded the advice of director Irene Villamor who is her idol and a dear friend. When Direk Irene offered to serve as creative producer of “366”, it made her determined to accept the challenge. It also helped Bela to finally say yes when Zanjoe and JC agreed to be lead actors.
Bela admitted being nervous on her first shooting day that there were times she just watched Zanjoe act and forgot she is also a star in the film. But she eventually got the feel of directing and work became smooth sailing.
