‘Click, Like, Share’ returns with more social media lessons

Vanessa A. Balbuena - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines —  If seasons one and two of anthology series “Click, Like, Share” scrutinized how technology alters young people’s perceptions and twists beliefs, the newly released third season brings stories on how social media can affect one’s family and other personal relationships.

The new episodes, directed by Andoy L. Ranay, continue the iWantTFC series’ social media advocacy, this time emphasizing the values of forgiveness, paying it forward, sacrifice, and contentment.

Starring Vivoree Esclito, Jane Oineza, Elmo Magalona, JC Alcantara, Shanaia Gomez, and Belle Mariano, “Click, Like, Share” streams exclusively on the iWantTFC app and website (iwanttfc.com) every Wednesday at 8 pm. Also featured in the episodes are Allan Paule, Nikki Valdez, Mark Rivera, and Bernard Palanca.

Episode one titled “Repair” is about healing with JC portraying young policeman, James, who lives with the shame left behind by his late dad, a notorious convicted criminal. When the death anniversary of his father’s victim comes, the issue resurfaces online, and JC finds himself transported back in time to confront his father.

In the “QR Code” episode, Vivoree discovers kindness as a security guard who gets fired from her job for allowing a man without a QR code to enter the building. Fed up with her misfortunes, Ellie (Vivoree) decides to apply for a job overseas, but a series of coincidences complicates her decisions along the way.

“I think the lesson here is that there are people around us to support us in our dreams no matter what, and one of those is our family,” Vivoree shared during a media conference. “But the question is, will you bring them with you until the end, or do you have to leave them at some point to reach your goals?”

In “Unseen,” Jerome (Elmo) and Mariel (Jane) are longtime lovers whose relationship is changed by an accident that leads to her blindness. Driven by guilt, Jerome dedicates his time to looking after Mariel, until one day, he suddenly disappears from her life forever.

“Swap” follows the gripping tale of two sisters whose bond is torn apart by jealousy. Jessie (Belle), a deeply insecure ‘jologs’ who envies the life of her famous vlogger sister Jenny (Shanaia), gets her ultimate wish when she wakes up to find out they have switched bodies. What follows is a startling realization that there is more to their lives than meets the eye.

“Our episode talks about love and sacrifice for family. My character is jealous of her sister and I feel like the overall lesson is, behind the glamorous façade that others see, you really don’t know what’s going on. Behind the smiles could be hidden pain and sorrow,” shared Belle, a rising actress after starring with Donny Pangilinan in the hit series “He’s Into Her.”

For the half-Cebuana and recent PBB housemate Shanaia, “Click, Like, Share” is her first acting project after emerging from Big Brother’s house. Direk Andoy commended the newbie for being easy to work with “because she’s very interested, and she has the skills.”

He added, “She’s very intelligent and listens so well to instructions. She didn’t seem like a first-timer.”

Shanaia said she tackled the job by asking for help each time she needed guidance, such as when delivering some of her Tagalog lines.

“The series is quite relevant. It’s a great way to understand that things aren’t always what they seem, and that valuing family is very important,” said Shanaia.
