Lucy, Richard don’t intend to ‘make politics a career’

STAR CIRCUIT - Ricky L. Calderon - The Freeman

Ms. Lucy Torres-Gomez is on her last term in Congress and while there are talks that she might be chosen by the administration party as a possible senatorial candidate, she said nothing is definite yet.

“I have my options but nothing is cast in stone. Our main concern is keeping Ormoc and the district safe,” added the better half of Mayor Richard Gomez.

She said that nothing she and Goma are doing right now should be taken to mean that they are planning to run for a higher government position although she said it is possible that Richard may run for Congress next year.

“What we do now is to honor the work that is with us. This is not part of a plan or a road map. We don’t intend to make politics a career. This is not pre-planned. Whatever will come our way, we will just go with the flow but we don’t want to be driven by a dream or a grand ambition,” she added.

She doesn’t want to second-guess whether Pres. Duterte will ask her to run for the Senate. “It is too early to tell. I believe we just have to wait until October,” said the Congresswoman.

Lucy said she had been asked to run for a higher post since 2016 but it is not her ambition to aim for a higher office. If ever she decides to do so, she won’t be coming in as a greenhorn.

“I won’t be on OJT because I have 11 years of experience behind me. I studied hard. It is difficult to find yourself in an arena where you don’t know anything. If ever I do run for a post, I want to make my time matter,” said Lucy.

“I hope that what I will leave behind me is better than what I found when I first stepped in. What we do in our jobs is to honor it with a legacy.”

Erich Gonzales takes justice into her own hands and becomes the new face of karma in the ABS-CBN teleserye “La Vida Lena,” which starts airing on Monday (June 28) on A2Z and TV5 at 10 pm.

This is Erich’s first teleserye shot during the lockdown. Ten episodes were first aired on iWant TV. “But we finished many episodes already. What you will see on the Kapamilya Channel TV is different from the one aired on iWant,” said Erich.

“It is a challenge to do this role since I have to make it look different from my past portrayals that also had revenge as a theme,” added Erich. “Taping during the lockdown is also a new experience for all of us. We had a series of Zoom meetings before the actual taping. Then we have to follow safety protocols while working.”

Since the series tackles karma, what is Erich’s view on it? “What goes around comes around. It is best to plant seeds of goodness. You reap what you sow. Focus on the things that you can do positively and what could be helpful,” said Erich.

Growing up, Magda has had to endure bullying because of a scar that covers half her face. Despite this, she remained kind, hardworking, and incredibly sweet to her loved ones and friends. But she had to endure hardships in the hands of the Narcisos, the most powerful family in Salvacion. Magda undergoes plastic surgery and returns to Salvacin as Lena, with the aim of getting back at those who made her life miserable.

How far is Lena willing to go to get revenge? Who will make her merciless heart beat again – Jordan (Carlo Aquino), her childhood best friend, Adrian (JC De Vera), a Narciso who falls hard for her, or Miguel (Kit Thompson), who once tricked her into loving him?

Completing the powerhouse cast of “La Vida Lena” are Janice De Belen, Agot Isidro, Raymond Bagatsing, Sofia Andres, Christian Vasquez, Pen Medina, Ruby Ruiz, Soliman Cruz, Malou Crisologo, Josh Ivan Morales, Hasna Cabral, Danica Ontengco, and Renshi De Guzman.

The series is helmed by veteran directors Jojo Saguin, Andoy Ranay, and Jerry Lopez-Sineneng.

“La Vida Lena” can also be viewed on the Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live on ABS-CBN Entertainment’s YouTube channel and Facebook page. Its episodes are available to viewers in and out of the Philippines on iWantTFC. - [email protected]
