Yam credits Claire dela Fuente for her career
CEBU, Philippines — Yam Concepcion was briefly emotional during the digital conference of her upcoming drama series “Init sa Magdamag” as she acknowledged OPM singer Claire dela Fuente, who died of cardiac arrest last March 30, for her place in show business.
Sabi niya ‘Congratulations.’ Four minutes lang yun sa telepono. Sabi ko, ‘thank you Tita Claire.’
Yam said she is offering this ABS-CBN project, her first television lead role, to one of the country’s three recognized Jukebox Queens. This is for Tita Claire. May her soul rest in peace,” she added.
Before embarking on an acting career, Yam was a drummer in a band that also included Monty Macalinao of the alternative rock band Mayonnaise. He would invite her to be his leading lady for the music video of Mayonnaise’s single “Sinungaling.” Claire saw the video and contacted Monty to introduce her to Yam. Sensing potential, Claire referred her to Viva Entertainment which gave Yam the chance to star in several films.
